"Little one, why are you crying?" A voice suddenly spoke from the shadowsdeep, soft, and gentle.
The little girl jumped in surprise.
"Who's there!?"
"I dont like the sound of a child crying, and I want you to stop."
"But Im afraid of the dark,"
The one who came with the darkness paused for a moment, reflecting. How cruel it is to leave such a small child to sleep alone. Is this what humans do?
Yet, as he thought about it, he couldnt judge too harshly. His world, after all, was no better. In fact, it might even be worse.
What truly mattered, though, was that his world was endless, stretching on for eternity. And because of that, he and humans were as different as night and day.
"Dont be afraid," the stranger said softly, his voice as gentle and soothing as the wind that whispered outside the window.
"The darkness is beautiful in its own way, along with its coldness and its mysteries. Think of it as a bedtime story youve forgotten," the visitor said.
"Who are you?"
"I am Pan."
"But why does Pan have to stay in the darkness? Why won't you come out to find Xavier?"
"Because I am something frightening"
"I'm not afraid of anything else," Xavier replied, "only the dark."
"I am the darkness."
